Creeks and rivers with low water levels will expose much more of the gravel bars and creek beds, which is where the arrowheads can be found. Also look in the eroded sides of the creeks that would normally be covered with water. Arrowheadsare made out of stone, so they tend to move along the bottom of the river just like other rocks and gravel.

Dec 07, 2020 · Chief Chicasawba lived in that area of Arkansas and when the mound was uncovered, the skeleton of a massive human being was found. Subsequently, other skeletons up to ten feet tall were unearthed in the same area, all with similar burial artifacts found with them. Some reports claimed the length of the skeleton’s legs to be five feet alone.

The older sites, once on dry land, were drowned when the water level gradually rose after the last Ice Age. Occasionally, sunken watercraft are found in Florida's rivers. Ownership of archaeological sites and artifacts located on state-controlled lands, including submerged lands, is vested in the Division of Historical Resources.

Two classes of structural artifacts other than flat glass have some utility in dating sites. They are nails and bricks.
